I had been eager to do a mountain river scene for awhile, but didn't have a clear idea of what I wanted to do, and
did not have a photo to use as a reference. So I created the composition using various sources and my own imagination and came up with River Cabin!

I created a couple of gestural sketches first and decided on one after refining the first one to where I thought it might work. The result was far better than I anticipated, so I was very content with the end product. 

I love the color combinations in this painting, and always enjoy seeing reflections in the water. It would be great to
have a cabin retreat like this to escape to.  The fresh pine air, nature's sounds, the quiet,  a little fishing in the 
clear mountain stream, and a warm fire in the evening with a nice red wine, and a good book!  My kind of heaven!
