What I wanted to show here in the painting is the sense of urgency, the anticipation, the potential energy that is
transformed into that burst of speed that occur as the horses round the turn, heading down the stretch to the finish
line.
The way I tried to achieve the feeling of increased speed was to angle the "aggregate plane, or shape" of the horses
downward on the page....similar to a ski slope, where the skier at the top of the slope, would be anticipating the
increase in speed as he moved down the slope!
